Released ‘Survey on Public Awareness of Media Coverage on Climate Change Measures’ in Conjunction with COP30 Opening on November 10

MEDIA IS HOPE Inc. conducted a ‘Survey on Public Awareness of Media Coverage on Climate Change Measures’ targeting companies and organizations participating in the Japan Climate Initiative (JCI).

■ Supported by: Japan Climate Initiative (JCI)
Objective: To clarify the awareness and expectations that companies and organizations working on climate change have regarding media coverage of climate change issues. Based on the survey results, we aim to promote more in-depth and multifaceted climate change reporting and contribute to transforming public awareness.
■ Target Respondents: Executives, management, sustainability departments, corporate planning, and public relations/PR personnel at companies and organizations participating in the Japan Climate Initiative (JCI). Responses were collected individually.

■ About the Japan Climate Initiative (JCI):
The Japan Climate Initiative is a network of non-governmental actors, including companies, local governments, and non-profit/non-governmental organizations, that are proactively committed to climate action toward the realization of the Paris Agreement. The initiative calls on the Japanese government to take a greater role globally in achieving a decarbonized society. JCI was launched in July 2018 with 105 founding members and has grown to 852 member organizations as of November 10, 2025. JCI welcomes participation from all companies, local governments, non-profit/non-governmental organizations, universities, and research institutions that support the founding declaration and are committed to serious action toward achieving a decarbonized society.(HP:https://japanclimate.org/english/

■ MEDIA IS HOPE Inc.:
A non-profit organization that provides various support to strengthen climate change reporting in order to realize a society that can solve climate change. Aiming to fundamentally solve climate change, it acts as a bridge to build co-creative relationships between media, citizens, companies, and all other stakeholders. It also operates a media collaboration platform that transcends media and affiliations.

MEDIA IS HOPE Inc. also provide spaces for various stakeholders to connect and co-create, such as by hosting the Climate Change Media Symposium, where media professionals, international organizations such as the United Nations, experts, practitioners, citizens and young people discuss the type of reporting required to solve climate change, and “Let’s Make It Together! Renewable Energy Day” supported by the Ministry of the Environment. We host the Media is Hope Award to recognize the achievements of media/journalists who contribute to solving social issues such as climate change and SDGs.
