At Hakuhodo, the “Hakuhodo SX Professionals” team is working to transform and redesign sustainable initiatives into tangible value for consumers, aiming to realize Sustainability Transformation (SX) for their client companies.
This time, MEDIA IS HOPE participated as a collaborating organization from the planning stage.
At this seminar they discussed the challenges and potential solutions of the “circular economy” from a marketing perspective.
The panel discussion featuring Hiroaki Kaneko, Director of the Container and Packaging and Plastic Resource Recycling Division at the Ministry of the Environment, Michihiko Iwamoto, co-founder of JEPLAN Co., Ltd., and Takumi Odabe, co-representative of Hakuhodo SX Professionals, was facilitated by Shiho Maki, co-representative of Hakuhodo SX Professionals, and Nishida, Co-Director of MEDIA IS HOPE.

The key to shifting to a “circular economy” is “consumer participation.”
In a circular economy, a collaborative system where “companies and consumers support the circular cycle” is crucial. The relationship shifts from the traditional “linear” model of “company to consumer” to one where consumers also “participate” as members of the circular economy.
The speakers exchanged views on what is necessary to expand the circular economy in the future, and how to involve consumers not only in the supply chain but also in enjoyable ways.
