We Exhibited at the Solar Sharing Festival!
What is the Solar Sharing Festival?
An event organized by the Solar Sharing Promotion Alliance, which has been working toward the realization of a sustainable society by aiming to achieve the 2030 climate change mitigation targets and renewable energy adoption goals.
To promote the spread of “solar sharing”—a system in which solar power generation facilities are installed on farmland using support poles, allowing sunlight to be shared between agricultural production and power generation—the event features presentations on solar sharing case studies from across the country, discussions led by practitioners and experts, and the sale and exhibition of crops grown under solar sharing systems as well as processed products made from those crops. Presentations and exhibitions by manufacturers of solar sharing equipment and consulting firms will also be held concurrently, serving as a platform for sharing solutions for implementing solar sharing.

Solar Sharing Festival ~ 1st National Convention
In 2024, the “Solar Sharing Festival ~1st National Convention~” was held at Chiba University of Commerce. In addition to serving as emcee assistants and operating an exhibition booth, MEDIA IS HOPE coordinated and facilitated sessions on the sub-stage. Through each session, participants and speakers came together to engage in in-depth discussions about the future of renewable energy and agriculture.
Session 1 of the sub-stage featured Ryo Hasegawa from Chiba Eco-Energy, Kenji Shino from Patagonia, Chiya Gidō from Greenpeace, and Daiki Tateyama from Spiral Club. After the speakers introduced themselves, participants split into small groups and began a discussion based on questions such as, “What are you personally doing or focusing on regarding the environment?” and “Why did you become interested in this topic, and what sparked your interest?” Afterward, participants formulated “questions” for the panelists to further deepen the discussion.
The discussion evolved into questions such as, “Can the future’s energy needs be met 100% by renewable energy?” and “How can we improve food self-sufficiency and increase the number of people working in agriculture?” This led to an exchange of views that touched on solar sharing, renewable energy, and the current state of Japan’s food system.
Session 2 featured presentations by Emu Ameku of Sosa Ohisama Hatake Co., Ltd., Haru Tsukada of Sunshine Co., Ltd., Seiji Nomura of Organic no Sato LLC, and Takeru Sonoki of UPDATER Co., Ltd. A group discussion among participants unfolded, focusing on practical perspectives for promoting solar sharing. Discussions focused on questions that could lead to concrete actions, such as: “What is needed to get started with solar sharing—the right mindset or knowledge? Where should one begin?” “What challenges arise on-site, and how are they being addressed?” and “Looking ahead five or ten years, what can be done to increase the number of young people employed in the solar sharing sector?”

Thank you for giving us this valuable opportunity to collaborate with and exhibit at the event! During the event, the venue was filled with the enthusiasm of practitioners and researchers gathered from across the country, and it was a time to reaffirm the potential of solar sharing and the importance of each individual taking action.
