[Co-hosted Symposium: Japanese Forum of Environmental Journalists & MEDIA IS HOPE] “Protecting Lives from Climate Change: Strategies for Extreme Heat in an Era of Energy Crisis”

As record-breaking heatwaves become the new norm, how does climate change impact our health, and how should we prepare? At this symposium, we will explore the interconnections between climate change, human health, and sports, as well as strategies for adaptation. Featuring leading experts and J.League Climate Action Ambassadors, the event will provide insights into shifting risks of heatstroke, the specific impacts on the elderly and children, and the current status and challenges regarding urban heat mitigation measures. Amid concerns over soaring electricity costs driven by the energy crisis, we will share concrete steps that individuals, workplaces, and communities can take starting now—working together to devise actions that safeguard lives in the face of climate change.
