“Let’s Make it Together! Renewable Energy Day! 2024” supported by the Ministry of the Environment was a great success!

Thanks to everyone’s cooperation, “Let’s Make it Together! Renewable Energy Day! 2024” was a great success. This was the second time the event was held, and it was even more powerful than last year. We had 12 talk sessions on the main stage and there were booths of renewable energy, slow fashion, and sustainable food stalls.

Leaders working to promote climate change measures and sustainability in a wide variety of fields, including “music,” “sports,” “energy,” “fashion,” “weather and climate change,” “comedy,” and “media,” gathered together. Each of them introduced their efforts, and it was an opportunity to once again feel the hope that can be built from collaboration across fields.

Additionally, we awarded the Media is Hope AWARD Hall of Fame to recognize media professionals from Japan and abroad who have made long-term, continuous contributions to reporting on climate change.

Last year, MEDIA IS HOPE Inc. helped bring to fruition the program “SDGs Special: Renewable Energy Revolution! Japan’s Challenge,” and this year we were once again able to help with the 2nd program, “Renewable Energy Revolution: The Miracle Story of Windmills,” and we had a public viewing of it at the event. With live commentary from TV Asahi announcer Yutaka Yamaguchi, we expressed our gratitude to the production team for reporting on the front lines of climate change countermeasures, and the momentum to support them further grew.

Me-Tele announcer Sanae Shimazu held a Instagram Live event. She talked with weather forecasters Hiroko Ida and Akira Masaki, who called for the “Weather casters Joint Statement on the Climate Crisis” released in June this year, about the state of weather forecasting in the age of climate change.

In addition, at the “Media is Hope AWARD” ceremony, the Hall of Fame was announced for the first time. The awards were presented to Tetsuji Ida of Kyodo News, Toru Ishii of The Asahi Shimbun, Kyoko Gendatsu of NHK Enterprises, and Mark Hertsgaard of Covering Climate Now, all of whom have been reporting on environmental issues for many years.

It was a day when we could feel the great wave of hope that we can continue to hold on to the goal of resolving the climate crisis by supporting each other and working together. As the title suggests, we are truly grateful to have been able to embody “Let’s Make it Together! Renewable Energy Day!” with everyone.

MEDIA IS HOPE Inc. will continue to work hard to expand our network of connections in the future!

Thank you very much to everyone who helped out.
